Heart Beats-
Music for dementia
Personal playlists of music can be a powerful tool to support those living with Dementia.
Heart Beats have been involved with a number of successful grass roots community pilot projects thanks to funding from Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations (CAVO) and Haul Arts In Health to create personal playlists of music for people living well with dementia.
These playlists then provided the foundation for accessible dance sessions to incorporate movement to the music.
Feedback from the projects has been overwhelmingly positive and we are looking for further partners to devleop this work in the future.
"Susie Scott, HAHAV’s Living Well Manager said: “Not only have clients enjoyed selecting their playlists, dancing, and sharing their music but it’s a wonderful legacy for families. A sound album which gives relatives and loved ones new insights and memories to look back on.”
"The leader was absolutely delightful. He really put so much thought into to the music each week creatinga nice routines which we could easily follow. Alex was extremely warm, welcoming and encouraging to both of us. Dancing was a very positive experience."
